From the city to the farm

Our story

Hi there! We’re Elizabeth and Stephen Clark. We have 4 kids - twin girls that are 10, an 8 year old son and a 5 year old son. We are huge animal lovers and do all of our farm chores together as a family. We’ve been farming since the end of 2020. Before that, we lived in the Chicago area. When we were living in the city and eventually in the suburbs, we dreamed of having land and raising animals. Elizabeth loves cooking and baking and wanted to find the best quality ingredients to use in her meals. After learning more about where most meat and produce comes from at the grocery store, we became very interested in raising and growing our own food. We wanted to know that the meat we were feeding our family was coming from animals that were raised humanely. Happy animals, raised outside, surrounded by fresh air and sunshine. Raised on pasture, during the growing season and rotated to fresh grass every day. We wanted to grow fruits and vegetables in a way that gave back to the soil and didn’t destroy it. We had big dreams! We tried to move out of the city many times, but couldn’t make it work financially. 

Until 2020. Stephen got laid off, we sold our house in the suburbs and we took it as a sign: It’s now or never! We had no idea what was next, but we took a leap and moved up to the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Before long, we were able to buy this property and start building our dream farm.
